RamPup

Until XP, Windows memory management left much to be desired, and even XP has problems. Many software applications that we use reserve RAM memory space but fail to release it when it is no longer needed. So RAM has to be freed by switching blocks out to virtual memory and bringing them back in when needed. This slows down your computing speed. No free RAM is also the major cause of the dreaded blue screen. RamPup solves this. You set how much RAM to release - up to 50MB. Best setting is around 25% of total RAM available. RamPup sits in your task tray and frees RAM every two minutes. You may toggle the automatic operation off and free RAM manually if you wish. If you have more than 200 MB of RAM you probably don't need it. There are also two buttons for system restart and graceful shutdown.

Windows XP/Me/NT4/2000/98/95.

RamPup sits in your task bar - right click on the icon to show the interface and change configuration.
